I really want to see Zacha WIN that 1C spot. When he was placed as a 3C I thought he showed real discipline and a dedication to a two-way game, but when he was given some opportunities to play with some better talent I think we saw more of what he could be. I really hope he wins that spot.

I don't think MoJo is elite either, but he is absolutely a legit top 6 guy and a great acquisitions. He's also at a great age (almost 27) where he's young enough to help long term but a seasoned player who can help the youth a bit.

Personally, I'd rather they let him play at his preferred position and let one of the centers play center. It seems like we move a lot of guy around.

Totally agree. Mojo should stick to what he is great at. Devils have depth at centre, and hopefully someone will take this opportunity and thrive under the 1C role. The potential for offense is looking great on this squad.

It would be great for the Devils if Zacha legitimately earned the spot as the 1C to open the season, but that seems incredibly optimistic.

If Butcher is getting a serious look at PP time, wouldn't that imply he has playing time at 5v5? Maybe I'm reading too far in between the lines.

I think reading too far, may want to see how he is on pp against nhl competition and if he impresses then makes the team if not he may go to bing for seasoning

I don't think "incredibly" is accurate. Henrique stinks with Hall, period. Take away Nico from the conversation and you're talking about Zazcha vs MoJo, who would be changing positions. So I don't think it's incredibly optimistic.

I get the point of keeping expectations low.

But as soon as Hichier is given that #1 C role. He'll run away with it and the Devils will be set for the next 10 years.

What can I say? I like him.

He'll be this team's number one centre sooner than later.

I'm with you. Greene and Severson are the only 2 D on the team capable of actually performing in a top 4 pairing. Will Butcher can skate, and has puck sense. Sure it's unproven on this stage, but he deserves every chance to show why he was such a highly sought after prospect. Give him real TOI I say.

I was surprised Henrique didn't take off with Hall after all the chemistry they had at Windsor. I always wanted to land Hall for that reason. Now we have him and it's just not that great of a match. Who was their RW?

Chemistry is needed off the ice as well. They need to hang out more, then it'll just pop. They played together when they were kids, they are men now, they've changed.

Ray's talk with Hall was probably more about "stop thinking about Edmonton". I get being upset a bit but all year it kept coming up. Now that he has settled in and he see's the new pieces that are her I think his production will rise.
